13 plus ways on How Maria Toro does Self-Care:

The best self-care I invest in is to receive massage therapy each week, sometimes twice a week, once in a while three times a week, depending on my needs, how busy I am with clients, and how much I push my body physically, with my workouts.
Everything in life is about recovery, how quick can we bounce back from ... insert whatever.
"Resilience factor", is another referral I use.

Encompassing big picture is Posture and body mechanics in real life.

This awareness was imbedded at 23 while in massage school. I was told by several instructors, the importance of this, and how it would be a game changer on how long I could practice massage.

For me, I had to pay my way thru all of life, including my education, I was all in, and heavily invested. I did not want to practice massage for 2-5 years, and not be able to do so after that because I didn't  take care of my body, therefore, the body could no longer take care of you.
No, with me, I wanted the investment of massage school, to actually pay me. They way I figured, if your career was over that soon, it wasn't worth the investment of funds.

Twenty years later, my education has paid for itself, and my body mechanics and posture are still at the top of my list with self-care.

I will give you a slightly different  view point on posture:

I have windows that are mirrored and tinted at my office. This is great because I can see out, LIGHT, TREES, and LIFE. Humans walk by all day. I observe gait, posture, and body mechanics. I can see much more than physically, and structurally what the vessel is relaying, we also broadcast our emotionally health, mental health. It is a sign of our overall well-being.

Unfortunately, many of us are not givin instruction/education/guidance on this at a young age, when it is vital for grooming life habits.

I was fortunate in some ways, having grown up on a farm, raised with, and showing horses. Posture is everything while in the show ring. And you can bet I had trainers DRILL me on my posture.
I have had other clients have the same experience with dancing, or gymnastics, or good, stern, old-fashioned parenting; ex. sit up straight at the dinner table.

A wish/goal/dream of mine, is to get a program into elementary schools to further educate our youth on our bodies. MORE anatomy, kinesiology and physiology MUST be taught. WE are these vessels.
WE need to be empowered in our bodies. When we walk thru life, when we get sick or injured, and have to consult with physicians for additional care. When we pick our bodywork's for our team. When we go to buy a mattress and pillow, and shoes! And the list goes on. We need to be in the KNOW.

Educating is empowering.

And the younger we begin, the more it is natural way of living life.
...so no need to begin a new habit, or quit bad habits...
it just is.

BREATHING. Breathe is LIFE. When all else fails, take a deep breath.
AAahhhhhhhh

Sit by the water, let the water wash over you, and carry your troubles away. No need to shoulder stress or challenges of life, instead: let go, and flow. Be like water. And drink plenty of it too! Warm it up, and make herbal tea.  Japanese tea ceremonies  are one of my favorite treasured times.

Tune in to your body. Intuition. Listening. Silence. Quiet time. Alone. Meditation.

Sound Healing. 528Hz repairs DNA, and is the heart chakra connection!!!!!! I listen to this while I sleep, and often while in session with clients. So many to choose from...and this is a great place to begin. Try the YouTube for FREE.
You are welcome...XOXO.

Aromatherapy has been part of my life since I was in massage school, and I was working at a family owned retailer on top of Queen Anne Hill, in Seattle. Since this was such an extreme speciality shop, it wasn't busy, so I took that opportunity to read very book we had for sale.
Yes, every single one.

And then I purchased the ones I loved most, and still have them today as reference tools.
I use lavender essential oil at home weekly for burns endured around the home. From the kitchen, to the bathroom, if you use a curling iron. Once you burn the skin, Immediately apply pure lavender oil directly onto skin. This immediately STOPs the burn form conintungng to  burn thru the dermal layers, it also takes the pain away immediately.I keep one in my fridge, and one in my medicine cabinet, and one next to my bed. This is my favorite oil, with so many variations to choose from!

Stretching. Mind and body! My favorite to receive is Thai massage, or lazy man's yoga! Which I incorporate into my Stretchrassage group classes!

Energy work: with a practitioner, or with Gemstones, or the moon, or...Find a way.

BALANCE YO!

Hot bathes with epsom salt, or dips in salt water, or those floating pods, or hot tub. The hydrotherapy is great. The magnesium is better!
